Fab Friday- Close Encounters of the Black Bear Kind
In this program, you will learn more about the black bear, including its distribution, habits, and behavior. Find out about the natural history of black bears in Western North Carolina and learn how to safely coexist with them. You will also learn more about the new BearWise initiative and the current phase of the Urban-Suburban Bear Study. Our presenter Tanya Poole is the Regional Education Specialist for the NC Wildlife Resources Commision. Her area covers 33 counties in Western North Carolina. She has worked for the commission for 16 years and has a bachelor's degree in elementary education and biology from Western Carolina University and a master's degree in environmental education from Montreat College.
